Chanukah 2020 an unusual time for the world.
To the Sons and Daughters of Our People Israel, Everywhere, God bless you all!
With the approach of Chanukah, may it bring us all much good, this message is sent as a brief reminder about some basic teachings of the Chanukah light.
The very act of lighting the candles shows even to the naked eye that the performance of the Creator’s commandments spreads the light of Godliness on earth, exemplifying all the Mitzvos, as it is written, “a Mitzvah is a candle, and the Torah is Light.”
The customs of Chanukah requires that the lights should shine also “outside.” This indicates, that we should not be content with merely spreading the light of Torah and Mitzvos in our own home, but it is part of our obligation and privilege to spread the light of the Torah and Mitzvos, also outside his home, to lighten up the outside, the street, the whole world.
When the sunset it reminds us that the time and the moment has come when the Creator and Master of the universe sanctifies us through the Mitzvah, as then expresses gratitude to the Creator, reciting (also) the blessing thanking HaShem “for having kept us alive, preserved us, and enabled us to reach this time,” and to kindle the Chanukah Lights.
May HaShem grant that everyone, man and woman, in the midst of all our brethren, keeping in mind that the essential thing is the deed”—and in a manner of “going from strength to strength,” steadily spreading the light all around, will hasten the end of darkness of our Golus, and of the world’s darkness, And just as HaShem “performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time,” so will He perform for us miracles, wonders, and deliverances with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu, whose coming we await and “have awaited all day,” every day.
With esteem and blessing for inspiring and bright days of Chanukah, To illuminate also all days ahead throughout the year.
Blessing for Chanukah
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to kindle the Chanukah light
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who performed miracles for our forefathers in those days, at this time.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has granted us life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this occasion
We kindle these lights [to commemorate] the saving acts, miracles and wonders which You have performed for our forefathers, in those days at this time, through Your holy priests. Throughout the eight days of Chanukah, these lights are sacred, and we are not permitted to make use of them, but only to look at them, in order to offer thanks and praise to Your great Name for Your miracles, for Your wonders and for Your salvations.
